I've got a 2000 F-350, 4x4, V-10, 5 spd.,crew cab.
I ordered it with shift on the fly 4x4 for the conveniece of it. Mainly in the event that if my wife was using it and came upon icy roads she wouldn't have to stop and lock hubs. The trouble I'm having is in the shifting into low range. When backing a trailer with the manual transmission it sure is a lot easier with that lower gear. It usually takes forever to get into low and once in can be even harder to get out. The truck only has 2000 miles on it so far. Do I need time to allow things to "loosen up", are there any adjustments or sensors that can be replaced? Any advice would be appreciated.
Try moving a little when shifting. this is the best advice I can give as i stuck with the old manual style, witch as the advantage of 2 low. one thing to watch when manuvering in low range is not to turn the wheel the whole way to either side as th front u joints will bind because of the torque of the V-10
I have pretty much the same truck as you do. To get it into 4lo, I found you have to have both the clutch and the brake depressed to get it into 4lo. give that a try.
