Front End Problem

I have a 1977 F-150.I was looking underneath it the other day and at the top of the right coiled spring there is a shiny spot. There is also some rub looking marks on the inside front right tire. Could the tire travel back that far to rub on the spring? If so what is wrong to cause this? It makes kinda a jarring sound when I hit a dip kinda hard.

Sounds like you have the wrong back spacing on the rims! Not sure but How much lift do you have? What size tires? I'll try to help here. Give me some info and we will go from there!

Have you had the truck aligned recently? I'm wondering if maybe the springs are sagging. Look at the truck from the front to see it looks like the tops of the front tires are tilted in. As the spring compresses the top of the tire is going to move in towards the fram. It's a function of the twin I beam suspension. As the tire moves up and down it travels in an arc at the end of the I beam. This is why it's so difficult to change the ride height of these trucks.

It is not lifted any and has 235 75R 15 tires. It is badly out of alignment. It wears the outside of the tire tread badly on both front tires. So this could be my problem? Thanks guys.
