I had replaced my inside mirror because the silver was flaking off, and it was turning black in the middle. I used a mirror from an econoline in the boneyard of a simmilar year. It looked the same and went right on. Thing is, at night if you use the day/night ****, you can still see the roof of the truck in the mirror, even at night. I'm wondering if a van mirror would actually be calibrated differently because the window is way in the back instead of right behind you.
It isn't a big deal, I'm just curious. Maybe I should find another pickup mirror. Easy enough to come by if it's worth doing.
That's kind of what I was thinking. It's fine during the day, but you go to turn the night lever and it's outta whack. Still usable, but just a little strange. I think it's because of the difference in length from the window. Thanks for the tip, I was thinking maybe they were all the same and I'm just nuts. Next time I'm at the boneyard I'll find a nice one from a pickup, see how that goes.
I have a van mirror in my truck ...the difference is that the day/night switch is backwards.. flip the switch the way that you are used to for night driving and then adjust it for day use...
How about that, I didn't even know there was a right and wrong way. I'll have to try that. I like having the lever forward so you don't see it during the day, at night when you pull it forward it's too dark to see it anyway.
