I realize the pics are just from a concept vehicle but the front end looks too animated... (kid, teenager like) If they build it and keep the front wheel drive they can keep it. I DON"T WANT ANY CRAP FWD! Towing anything more than a 6' trailer for a riding mower is out as well or maybe dirt bikes....It is interesting though....I'll keep my 93 gas hog w/ 0 payments...
I will have to say that i do like the fact that they are trying to keep a retro look to alot of the stuff now but if they are going to put a diesel into it put something bigger than a 2.0 and make it a RWD not none of that all wheel drive sissy crap. The built in wench is cool probably only enough to pull itself let alone a chevy.
I think that AWD is great. It is very safe for a multitude of road conditions.
I also like the styling of the new Bronc. Lighten up! So what if it looks like a first-gen Bronc. They were cool too.
Sure, if you want to do some really heavy-duty mudding, a stock 2005 Bronc may not be for you. But to be honest, none of us here are rich; that's why (apart from them being cool trucks) we drive 10-20 year old vehicles in the first place. As far as myself, if I had a 2005 vehicle, I wouldn't be out abusing it in mud bogs. As far as lifting a 2005 Bronc and making it into a serious off-road vehicle, of course it could be done, but not for the $3,000 with rims and tires that it costs us to do our older Broncs. However, it's probably comparable to a person buying a Bronco brand new in 1995 or whatever and doing a full on lift and rims to it at the time of purchase.
I use my Bronc's 4WD primarily for snow, sand, and light mud (trail use, basically). It has stock suspension with 31" tires. It rides smoothly and tracks straight. As far as I know, all suspension components are original from 1990 with 120K, and the front end passes the mechanic's inspection every time. And I am sure that they would be happy to sell me some front end work, but they never find anything wrong.
In conclusion, I imagine the 2005 Bronco to be a competent off road vehicle, and a safe and efficient on road vehicle for all driving conditions. I freely admit that I would love to have one if I had the dough.
It's kinda cool. The one thing I see a draw back in this new style is that there is no reaer bumper of sorts. Mainly I'm thinking of a full size tire and carrier either mounted onto the rear bumper or on the rear of the cab like most of the current broncos out there, like the one I have on mine.
The Engine in the new concept is WAY to small. It would be hard to go to anything smaller than my 5.8L gas hawg.
And then what about attachment points up front. There may be times where one needs to use a ****** block, and attach the hook of the(wench) cable back onto the front bumper. Or if one needs to attach a snach strap between front of your rig to the rear bumper of stuck dufus in front of you.
I probably spent just as much $$$$$ on my 1990 Bronco as one would have to pay for on the 2005 model. And the new one, I don't think it would be able to handle some of the things that I could do now, nor would I want to put that nice neat new rig to the test, if I got one.
i wouldnt waste my money on it. ESPECIALLY if it is based on the frame and drivetrain of the escape. i do like the fact that it looks like the original. but at least make it something worth while, somthing that can at least keep up with the jeep rubicon or the defender 90. i mean come on, thats what made a bronco a bronco. somethin that can wheel with the best of em in stock form. sorry for the rant its just my opinion.
