Need some help!!!!

I have a 91 f-150 and have some problems with the steering. I have really loose steering. The problem is when i turn there is space before i feel tension in the steering wheel. What should i do?

Another thing is that my truck is curently on 32s and i want to go bigger i dont have a lift kit on it and was wondering if i will need one if i want to put 40s on it.

Fix your steering & other mechanical problems first.

Then I would worry about the apearance items. paint, brush gaurd, tires, you get the point.

After you have your mechanical problems straight & your truck looking pretty then work on the interior.

And I personally believe that you would have to have a lift to put 40's on your wheels. I have heard people having problems with 33's & 35's without a lift.

I'd have a front wheel alignment done because there are so many components (ball joints, tie rod ends, radius arm bushings, ect.) that can cause loose steering. There is also an adjustment that can be done on the steering gear box.

Easy check, look under the hood, just above the steering box on drivers side, you will see a coupling with 2 pins, if it has not been replaced yet. Between this coupling is a rubber disc. Have someone move the steering wheel while you watch. If pin is sheared or rubber disc is broken, you can get a replacement at you local parts store cheap.

Come on man, are you serious? A little common sense here. Do you really think you could fit 40" tires on your truck without lifting it? After seeing these two post I think you are getting ahead of yourself. Do some reading on the subject(s). Just trying to help you out. But like these guys said I would take care of the maintanence issues first. The loose stearing is just Ford. It's normal. It could be worn ball joints and/or tie rods. If you don't know what to look for take it to an alignment shop and have them check out your front end.
