I have a 1999 expedition /w 70,000 miles. When the brakes are applied the front end vibrates. I've change the pads and turned the rotors three times. Problem comes back after about 8,000 miles. I'm using cermic pads. Any Ideas? Thanks
lobstershift; Have the rear ones been done? And when the front ones are done do you not feel the shimmy anymore or does it just reduce it? Has anyone looked at the upper ball joint's & lowers also the tie rods. You may not have any problems with the chassis but you never know, FORD chassis are
virtualy bulletproof. turbo ted
Thanks turbo ted. The rear have been done once. The vibration completely stops after a brake job. If I spin the front wheels I can hear the pads making contact with the rotor then no contact then contact again. I think the rotors keep geting warped but I don't know why. lobstershift
lobstershift; You may star with just replacing the rotors & pads again, A couple of things that could be causing the warpage is someone just torquing down the lug nuts with an impact & not using a torquestick also at this time if they do not use a star pattern on the lug tightening sequence these both may cause premature warpage, driving alot in a rainy climate as the rotor is constantly drentched or splashed by water it just tempers the rotors, if you have a hanging caliper [binding caliper] this could be causing the warpage also. I hope for your sake that you have a 4X2& not a 4X4 the 4X4 rotors can
be a nightmare that only gets worse as the day goes. Advance seems to have the best prices & warranty on the rotors. TURBO TED

Turbo Ted, Thanks again for the advise. I tighten the lugs in a star pattern with a lug wrench, I'll use a torque wench when I replace to rotors and pads. I live in southern CA, not much rain. I have a 4X2. I rebuilt one of the calipers on the second brake job I did. They seem to be moving freely. lobstershift
