Lumbar support?
I just got back from a 3,000 mile ski trip up to beautiful British Columbia. The lumbar support worked the few times I adjusted it during the trip.
A little history about the seat; back in Oct 02 I took the truck to the Towne Ford, in Redwood City, for what I thought was minor warranty service. Sticky ignition, Intermeitent problem w/ radio and a loose seat. It turns out the seat rails needed replacing???? I am not a heavy guy (185lbs) and I am in no way abusive to my vehicles.
The dealer told me to come back around 4:00. When I went to pick up the truck, it was obvious it wasn't going to be ready anytime soon as the seat was upside down on a cart and the technician was wailing on the seat with a mallet. I mean wailing- full arm swings with a 3 or 4lb hammer. It took from early October to late January to remedy the situation and even then the seat wasn't quite right. I found that out on a trip to Oregon. If you released the lever to tilt the seat the seatback would flop all the way down and you needed two hands to pull it back up. This happen on the freeway at 65mph. Needless to say the dealer "fixed" this right away- although the lever hangs down farther on the driver's side than it used too. Soon afterward ever so often I would hear/feel a popping noise in the seat back. It didn't seem to affect the lumbar support of the seat feel and I couldn't reproduce the noise by pushing on the seat. I would say the popping noise happened every couple of months. The truck was out of warranty by the time they finally fixed the seat so I didn't take it back for the popping noises in the seat back.
Does any know how the lumbar support works and is it easy to work on? Or is this going to be a dealer issue? If it is a dealer only type deal I might have to start looking for those captains chairs I wanted.
Thanks
Tim
