I also have just ordered the same as you. XLT, 250, 4x4, v10, cc, auto, with 3.73 Limited slip axle. No problem at all. The option number is XC101 (same as you list). The two limited slip axle options available for this set up are; LS 3.73, and LS 4.30. Keep talking to that dealer! Carl

I heard that discussed a while back.. Is your dealer looking at their 'source' book or are they trying to punch it into the computer..
The source books have some mistakes in them..
There is a restriction if you get the v10 + 5sp, then you have to get the 4.30 to get LS..
However with the V10 + auto, the LS is available with 3.73 and 4.30.
I've heard others from CA post that they have the 3.73 LS with their V10.

My research found that for this vehicle in CA, I can get it with 3.73 non-LS or 4.30 LS only.
After talking to a couple of friends this morning about my dilema, I've decided to go 4.3 LS. I've ordered it with the 265 tires which will hopefully compensate for the ratio. One idea my friend had was to get the 3.73 non-LS and get Detroit Lockers installed. I know voiding the warranty is one bad thing. Any others?
Thanks. Dan

I don't understand what goes into the decision on what options are offered in what pkgs.
I've been looking at the Excursions for several wks now, and have had one ordered since 2/17. When I was first looking, the 3.73 LS was only available on the diesel. An open 3.73 was available on the 5.4l and the V10. The 5.4 was available with the 4.10 LS, but not the V10. The V10 was available with the 4.30 LS, but not the 5.4l. While I was waiting to order, I found out that the 3.73 LS was going to be available, on the V10 at least, after 3/1. That is the choice I wanted so I guess it paid to wait!
Can anybody with the V10 and 4.30 tell me what your RPM's are at 65 mph in 3rd gear and also in OD?
Seems like there is a void between 3.73 and 4.30 that could be filled with the 4.10.

I have a V10 with 4.30 and stock tires. At 65mph in OD the rpm's are about 2250 to 2300. I dont know what RPM is at in third gear. Also Im going to put on 35" tires on 16.5 wheels. Which Im told will bring my ratio around 4.05 to 4.10. The 4.30
on stock tires is a little much especially in first gear. Hope this helps.

Well, I don't think you can go wrong with the 4.3LS. You may be happy with it without going to taller tires. Also, note that the optional LT265/75R16 tires and the stock LT235/85R16's are the same height(about 31.6 in). The 265 is about an inch wider than the 235. Sounds like you've got a good setup to me! I ordered an F-350 SD CC V10 auto 4x4 with the 3.73 rear limited slip axle in January of this year. When it arrived in late March it came without the limited slip differential. A copy of the original order showed it as being ordered correctly. I am not sure if the dealer later deleted it or whether or or not it can not be ordered with the V10. For whatever reason, it appears Ford appears to make it difficult to order the limited slip option and get it right.
Good luck.
