front 4x4 CV boot change
How much of a bitch to change is the front axle shaft boot on a 2000 expy?
dealer just spotted a cut in the outboard boot beginning to fling grease.
like $110 for a boot (?!?) and 2 hrs labor ($140).
Is it a bear of a job (special tools?) or can independent shop or DIY do it?

You've gotta remove the half shaft first. It's not too big of a deal if you have good tools and can get a couple loaners, i.e. steering arm removal tool, cv boot clamp tool, etc. Two hours labor doesn't sound bad, but the cost of the boot, ouch. Maybe that's for cv joint too.
