When Did .... ?

Recently my bro-in-law got '78 F-150 . i thought they '73-'78 trucks had round headlights.but not his it got rectanlges. i had a 79 -it had rectangle lights. is this something someone did to his or did they split the year . 9 times out 10 i am wrong so this is probably #10 . please let me know

i think 77 was the year they went to rectangle hed lights, maybe 78, i know 78's do. and 76's have round ones.

78s had optional rectangle headlights, 79s had them standard.

I could be wrong but I think that they changed over mid way through the 78 model year. I have an early production 78 F-150 Custom and it has the round headlights.

Whoa whoa whoa...

In 78, any trim above Custom got rectangular head lamps. In 79 all trim levels got the rectangular head lamps. Prior to 1978, no trucks got the rectangular head lamps.

Where did this thread come from ?

Here's the scoop.

All 78 Custom's got round headlights.

All Ranger & higher trim lines got Rectangular lights.

In 79, They all got Rectangular lights
