clucth linkage

Hi i converetd my truck form a c6 to a zf 5 speed about a yerar ago. the other day i noticed the clutch is starting to engeag way down on the peddale travle. closer look showed that the linkage going form the master cylinder to the peddal assambly was very well worn. these are all new parts a year ago. i was wonder should there be a brass bushing in that linkage. i never had on and i noticed the hole in the linkage seemed big but did not think anything of it.

I had the same problem with my factory installed stick shift. That linkage is notorious for bending and the ball joint breaking. My shiffter started doing the same as yours until the unit bent so much that the ingnition interlock with the clutch no longer worked. The the ball joint broke and the pedal went to the floor. The ford dealership repaired it at a cost of $700. My new clutch master cylinder had to be replaced again at a parts cost of $140. I was not a happy camper. I got 50,000 miles on my linkage. I'm wondering when it will bow and break again.

I didn't get under the dash and do the work so I don't know about a brass bushing.

RNM,
If you're referring to the "eye" on the shaft protruding out of the master cyl. towards the clutch pedal, yes there should be a bushing there. I think some were brass, some a plastic. Also, the early setup did not have an adjustable extension on the master cyl. You can change that to one that is adjustable and has a lock nut to hold it in place. The bushing is available from auto supply stores at about $4.

The clutch linkage has two bushing kits.
E69Z-7526-A for the eye bolt into the master cylinder.
EOTZ-2471-A this kit has 4 bushings in it and are on the main clutch saft that is shared with the brake pedal.
Feels like a new truck.
