Hi, I'm new around here. My 2001 5.4L F-350 has started having a weird starting problem. Basically it goes like this. Dead battery. I get out the charger/starter and jump it with the 200Amp start mode. It takes about 30 secs and it starts right up. Let it run for 60 secs. and shut it off. Crank it again and no problem, drive it around town, goto the store no prob. Fast forward to the next day or two (I don't drive it every day) and same issue all over. The battery is OEM and still has the green eye (proves only one cell is good right?) Lights are off, cargo light is off, everythings off.
I'm not sure if it's the battey or a short? Any ideas?
Thanks for the advice. I'll charge it all the way up and go from there. It almost seems like there is a "battery buddy" (not sure if they still make those) like device that is preventing the complete drain of the battery. When I go to start it, it's dead, no lights no click, nothing. 30 secs of a boost and it's like it's "reset" and cranks over with full power repetitively.

The first thing I would do(it's cheap) is to take all the heavy battery wire connections off the battery, engine block, and starter relay, and scrape them clean.
If that doesn't fix it, then I would suspect the battery. A totally discharged battery should take a while to charge back up.
I jumped it again last night, and then drove around awhile. When I came home I charged in on the 40 Amp cycle for 1/2 hour. I'll check it when I get home tonight and check the battery voltage.
