I have a 2000 Ford Explorer 5.0l V8. When I am moving slow or like idling and turing slow. It has a shutter it likes it wants to die it is like a rough idle. Have any of yall had this prob and ithink i can feel some spark pulgs missing could this be it, it has 46000 miles on it should i change them it is under warranty i am thinking about bringing it in do you think i should??
1 more thing it had a ticking to it i dont know if it suppostoi be ther or not any one have this prob????
maybe do a tune up, new plugs, or at least wires. filters also, and oil- make sure you use the oil viscosity that the owners manual recomends!!! too many people feel the need to put in the wrong "thicker" oil and end up with noises. Thicker oil is not better, the newer engines have tighter clearances and smaller oil passages, and have to have thinner oil to reach everywhere with the same pressure. MAKE SURE you use exactly the right oil.
i jsut recently had my oli changed and they said that i should put 10W-30 and i said that the car says 5W-30 he said that is only for brak in period so i jsut let it be could that be one of my probs??
what does your owners manual say? There is probably a chart on it, with temperatures and recommended oil grades. Did the dealer tell you this or some ten minute lube shop?
Take a fuel pressure check and then a vacume check. Sounds like a bad map sensor possibly. Hook up to a computer and see what the MAP is reading, and compare to your actual reading. If they are different, change the sensor. If they are the same, check fuel pressure. Make sure you have a fresh fuel filter on there.
if it's under warranty like ya said, just bring it in to have them do a diagnostic check.... But if they don't find a warranty item to be the cause, and they think a worn spark plug wire or something not covered is causing it- then they may charge you for the repair. most likely it's something simple thats causing the rough idle, and shouldn't be too hard to solve.
