Rear Axle question
Hi, I just bought my 96 F-150 a couple months ago, and I was curious on what my rear axle is.
Can anyone tell me how I can tell what size my rear axle is? Something in the VIN number maybe???
96 F-150 4.9 Straight 6, 5 spd.

It's a ford 8.8" axle. The axle ratio will be on the tag under one of the cover bolts, and also on the door post under AXLE. There are a 1000 posts on this forum about how to decode them. Try the search function.
