i have a 1996 e 250,that i just purchased.it has 164,000 miles on it,the transmission slips alittle between 2nd an 3rd.fluid was just changed last night along with the filter, samething, still slips.parts supplier said try reset engine code by removing negative terminal after fluid change, samething.the fluid looked like new so i believe the last owner already tried replacing the fluid and filter.any ideas?
Those are pretty sophisticated trannys. Maybe that's why it got sold. It's definitely in the mileage range to need it. I unhooked my battery to reset mine cause it was shifting too hard. Didn't do any good. It's sending full line pressure meaning rebuild in near future.
I had a 1992 f150 xlt with the e4od. after burning up 7 transmissions I decided to sell it. after it was sold i talk to a ford tech. it seems that there was service bullitin sent out to ford garages about changing the trans. for a newer modle e4od as the originals did not have a center support ( an experiment by ford). I sold mine after the trans locked into reverse while I was driving it forward at about 35mph!!!. although it should have been a recall item ford elected to inform only their dealer garages. check with your locall dealer to see if your truck falls under the service bulliten
