spark plug color

spark plug color
my truck has a miss to it.i pulled out the plugs and cleaned them.they ranged in color from white,orange,brown,to black.why so many colors and what color should they be?

Whats the details on the engine? Ideal plug color is sort of a light dry grey, a little discolored from original. Sounds like you need to change plug wires or do a compression check. Where they wet as in oily or did they smell like gas? Looks like your white ones are probably running the best.

it was recently rebuilt,but i`m not sure it was done right.it has cheap 7mm wires on it now,with autolite plugs.i`m going to replace the plugs and wires soon.i also want to check the compression as soon as i can get my hands on a comp tester.what kind of plugs and wires would you recomend?the inside of the plugs were dry,but the threads had oil on them.
