N E I (not enough info) what year and model truck you have there cowboy? Stock pipes or updated to larger size? Get back to us and we will get you back on track.
If you've got a two-piece aftermarket downpipe like the Hypermax, you might be experiencing the clamp that connects coming into contact with the body. I fixed mine by replacing the guillotine style clamp with a strap clamp.
More info about your specific truck and problem would help.
its a 3'' 2 piece pipe from bd power on a 96 f 250 rubbing against the firewall , is that better, i clippted the lip but that didnt do any good so i took a hammer to it. two weeks later i got tired of it rubbing again so i took a fiberglass mallet to it. that lasted about two weeks , it still was rubbing so i took a sledge to it. it still rubs and its the down pipe, i did use a clamp noy a u bolt.

If it's the downpipe hitting on the firewall at that point, you might need to take the top section back out, and use something to get leverage against the back of the block, and try to dimple the firewall more. I believe it was a 6' long section of 1" square steel that worked for me.
Good luck.
I had the same problem on my 96. Couldn't figure it out till I noticed the clamp at the turbo wasn't tight enough. It will move. Bought a new clamp/at turbo, and it hasn't moved in three years. Hope that's it.
