Any damage done?
My lovely brother, while driving my 03 E150 5.4 accidentally slipped the shifter into reverse doing 30mph... I heard a whirring sound and the engine died. Everything seems to work fine now, just wondering what might've happened, and what is in place to protect the trans from idiots?

i do not think any damage is done, now if you did this everyday, there would be a problem. I accedentaly did this on my chev on more than one occation. I think you should be fine, the torque convertor gives enough to compensate.

i no a guy that for years any time he had to do an emergency stop he would put the trany in reverse that is until one day after two years of doing this the trany died. so i think one time you should be fine just don't let him drive again
