Question Speaker grounds

I want to install a factory radio/cassette player that came out of my 1993 Clubwagon in my 1984 F-150. I need to know whether or not the speakers in the F-150 have a common (shared) ground. I was told by a professional that if this is the case it will damage a modern high power radio. He says that if the original wiring has a common ground I will have to pull new speaker wires. Can anyone help me here?

That is correct, the audio output on the newer HUs is differentially driven. Also, keep the channel polarity the same so the speakers will be "phased" the same!!
