Hum Noise under floor
I have a 2004 F250 6.0 4x4. My truck ran fine for the first 500 miles and then some minor issues started to develop.
1st- I let the truck sit in my garage overnight. I then put it in reverse and back down approx. 200ft. driveway with slight decline. When I put it in drive and begin to push the throttle I get a cluck under the left front of the truck?
2nd- I have a hum that develops when the truck heats up. It initally sounded like a power steering pump going bad. I took it to the dealer and they said they replaced the power steering pump because it was bad? Problem still exists. It changes pitch when a change it RPM occurs. Could it be a tranmission Pump? It starts to whine more at freeway speed and I can feel a slight pulse in the pedal.
3rd- When I leave the A/C upon engine shut down it makes a pop under the dash when I restart the engine?
4th- When I get on the throttle and then let off it makes a rattle sound under the hood. I was told it was the waste-gate off the turbo. Is this right?
5th- The transmission fluid was low. I took it in one day and they ran it to the back of the dealer and overfilled it one day. Now I'm worried that they put the wrong fluid in since it takes the Mercon SP which is the only ATF for the new powerstroke transmission. Should I have them replace it. I probably can't prove that they put the wrong stuff in, or did they...
Overall I love my truck but I sure wish I could figure out these annoying problems. Any other members with the same issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, M.E.
1) The clunk sounds like the hubs engaging/disengaging.
2) I dunno, but what about about the fuel pump? Heck, I'm not even sure there is one on a diesel.
3) A/C, dunno.
4) I read it's the turbo winding down. Also read there is no wastegate.
5) IMO if they overfilled it, make them fix it. I do hope you have the receipt/service order that they did fill it in case something happens. If you're really worried, empty it all and refill.
Thought I might be of some help. I hate seeing questions go unanswered. The guys here are very helpful. Try searching for your concerns and you'll find better answers than mine.
