I want to buy a spare CPS, I have a 1996 psd, I was told by neighbor that I should get the new one for the new trucks. Is this correct,? He told me it will fit, and the one that was made for my truck is junk, sounds weard but I am just checking with you guys. first. He said to get it from international. any one that knows if this is correct. and has the part # from international would be appreciated.
He was talking about some new upgrade that fits all 7.3 96 to ??he said all newer 7.3 fron international. I don't think the 6.0 is made by intrernational.
If it's a 96', there are two different CPS's. Early and for later models. Look on the door jam to be correct. Month/Year info. I went through this back in Dec. They look the same but the bracket is different.
Here's the information you need in these two links. Depending on your engine serial number, you might need the early 7.3 part #. FYI, when you buy the part, Ford calls it a "CMP Sensor" and International calls it a "CAMP Sensor." There is no such thing as a CPS. Don't tell International you have a Power Stroke, tell them you need a "CAMP Sensor, part # *********, for a T444E." Sometimes they give Power Stroke people a hard time for buying International parts.
