Question 289

How do I know which code my 289 is? A, C, D, or K? I bought my 69 4x4 F100 and I thought it was a 302, but obviously it wasn't. I want to know what it is. The intake was a 2V, so I think it was a 'c'.

What is the 3rd digit of the casting number prefix
on the block & heads

C9?E-6015-

Now on the same parts look for the actual day of cast.

Looks like this * 9k23 *

Thanks,
Well that is a 289 block for sure because the 302 came out in as 302's were put in the 68 cars & trucks .

That one , was designed for a 66 Ford Fairlane .

but now you need to get the other casting stamp info to see when it was actually cast.

The K code was cast for the Mustang C5ZZ so you don'y hav that one.

Look at the back of the block.. on the top in a machined area directly behind where the intake ends, for a stamping of a
VIN# .

Also, What intake was on this
