Looking for a part
Hi guys, (and gals)
I already posted this in the 87-92 forum but this forum is my home. mabey you can help
I have an 89 250 that I need steering column parts for. what I need is the ignition casting (the cast aluminum piece that the ignition cyll is housed in.) I got the truck for a steal but the guy that had it did not have a key. he wanted to move it and the shifter was locked. so instead of unhooking the linkage and shifting it underneath, he took an air hammer to the steering column. I have called all of the bone yards and visited a few today and no body has a column that will work.
this truck has a c-6 tranny in it without overdrive so there is no overdrive button in the end of the shift lever.
as I said,the only piece that I need is the casting that the key cilander goes into.
we tried to swap the casting from a manual steering column but the cogs that lock the shift lever in place are not there. (the step piece that locks the shifter reqiuring you to pull the shifter toward you to change gears.) it is a bolt on piece but the castings are not the same. there is no place to bolt it on the other casting.
oh, it is not a tilt wheel and there is no cruise control.. simply a straight colum and horn pad.

Check my ad for my 1988 Bronco that I'm parting out. It has a tilt column, but it is an auto tranny (C-6). If you know the ignition switch cylinder is the same, I still have the complete column.
