I saw in a local truck buyers magazine that there was a 2001 f350 4x4 crew cab psd dually with high miles for 12000 dollars. I called my friend right away and he went and checked it out. He ended up buying the truck. The truck was from the original owner who is retired and travels cross country with a 9000 lb trailer. The truck has 474000 miles on it and all the guy said he did was replace the tranny twice. After he bought it he took it over to the ford dealer ship and they went all through it and the only thing they found wrong was a leaking pan gasket and it needed new brakes. He says it runs fine, the only thing wrong was a wore out carpet on the driver side and lots of dog hair. He says it didnt even look like any body was ever in the back seat or passenger seat. Good buy for him or not?

That was a good buy. Depending on how well the owner took care of it, and how good your friend takes caren of it, he may have to get a new engine sometime in the future. If he takes good care of it, he could probably get over 250,000 more miles out of the engine.
