Hey all. After reading through many of the posts both here and in the super duty forums I came to the decision to price a 2004 F250SD PSD Lariat CC FX4. I came to a deal with the dealer ($36500) and the credit union. Now I'm ready to go order the truck tomorrow and I'm starting to get cold feet! This will be the first brand new vehicle I will have ever bought and it cost more than the first house I bought! I know it is an awesome truck and I will love driving it but is it worth giving up 5 years of payments for something that is going to keep depreciating!!! I initially thought new because I wanted the newer 6.0 PSD instead of the 7.3 and heard of problems with the '03's so I felt an '04 was in order. Any used '04 are close to as much as a new one, so I wanted new. I want the diesel too, so I know that is affecting the cost. It is worth it in the long run. Just wanted a little reassurance that this won't be a mistake. Thanks
I can assure you. You will not regret it. I looked for 4 years before I finally made up my mind to buy a new PSD. I am the proud owner of an 03 F350 Lariat with minimal problems and haven't regretted a second of it.
Only thing I regret is waiting so long. Great daily driver, great for trips , great jeep hauler.
Go ahead and get the truck. The problems are minimal. Most of the problems were in the early 03's. From there on they only faded. And most of those problems were fixed. Few seem to keep having reaccuring problems. And with it being a late 04, I'm sure you will be trouble free.
Hard to buy a new car or truck that doesn't depreciate. The reason they depreciate in the first place is wear and tear. That's why the IRS will allow you to deduct mileage if you use the vehicle for business. Just remember, you only lose the diiference between your purchase price, your selling price and what you used (true depreciation).
Did I rationalize that well enough to get you to the dealer?
