Air Bag Code 42

Great Forums Here !! Thanks to all !!

I have a 97 F-150 XLT - 4WD - V8

I'm getting an Air Bag error... continuous sequence for about 30 seconds of 4 flashes-2 flashes... then the light burns solid...

Does anyone know the meaning of the 42 code or where I might find the error code reference... ?

Thanks !! dolce

Hi dolce and welcome to the forum
A code 42 means the LH Air Bag Sensor circuit resistance isn't right. The sensor could be unplugged or have a broken wire or the sensor or air bag diagnostic monitor could be bad.
Probably about the only thing you can easily check is to make sure the sensor is plugged in and look for broken wires.
The sensor is behind the front bumper, on the rad support I believe. There is one on the right side of the truck too.
If you decide to check any wiring dont probe any wires or connectors with an ohmeter or whatever. If you do that you could set off the airbags.
