keep the free rims?

i recently got a set of rims for free, but the problem is that they were rusty-not too bad but there were spots that chipped off similar to paint chips . i sanded em down best i could and painted them ( they actually look fairly decent). but my concern is that my 78 might be too heavy for em how much structural integrity has been compromised due to the rust- should i waste my time putting on my 35's or keep the junk rims that the truck came with? any advise is greatly appreciated

If the chips are on the outside, you're probably okay. If the inside is chipping, you're looking at corrosion where there really shouldn't be any and BEWARE. Those things could easily come apart under pressure.

replacement steel rims are $25-$40.

Ussually by the time they start rusting real bad the lug holes are wallowed out too.
