I have a gorgeous 77 F-250 Tralier Special... runs like a dream with a 460 V8. My power steering is leaking to the point where it's undrivable... at first I thought it was tranny fluid, but it appears my grampa put tranny fluid in the powersteering. I replaced it w/ power steering fluid. The leak appears to be coming out of the column it's self.... I know alot about the engine, but my knowledge is lacking on steering systems.... I can't even identify the pump that i have.... any suggestions?
Welcome to FTE. Is your truck 4x4? Also my Haynes book says that for my 76: Type F tranny fluid is used for the power assist. If that is the same for your 77 then that would explain the tranny fluid coming from the steering. Is the fluid comming from where the steering colum enters the power steering pump? By the way where are you stationed at?
it's a 2x4 sorry i forgot to mention that.... it look like it is where the column goes into the pump, at least that general area....
I'm stationed at Camp Lejeune, have been for the past 3 years, I get out in July. What air station are you at?
Would it be an assist then? If it helps i know on top of the Tralier Special it has an alititude package....
