advancing timing

I no how to adavance the timing. I was just wondering when the truck is cold it has alot more power with the timing advanced by the cold advance. If I advance the timing so its awlasy adavnce this will give me a lot more power rite or worng. what are the downsides to doing this. does it hurt mpg or the enegine. id love to get some more mpg out of her since i only get around 14 empty keeping my foot out of it. i am alos going to turbo it as soon as it warms up and i gte my crops in will the advance timing help make the trubo work any better or worse. thanks sorry for the kinda long post

when u get the turbo back timing down! If you advance your timing do not go more than a couple degrees. Too much and you will see a few holes in pistons. IMO not worth the lil bit of power unless you are having difficulties with it. Wait for the turbocharger and you will be very happy as long as you keep it conservative.

The turbo instructions tell you to set the timing up to 8+. They run way better there. Granted, if it sounds like a powerstroke you have gone too far!

A pyrometer would be a good addition to anyone seeking to get the most out their diesel. I'm not running one, but other than that!
