My truck is a '76 4x4 f100. It is lifted 6 inches. In the rear a block is stacked on top of the factory block. In the front the radius arms are factory length and aren't dropped. Does anyone know what might prevent the vibration? I am thinking maybe new leaf springs with out the extra block and extended radius arms plus something called wrap trap. Wrap trap serves the same purpose of ladder/traction bars. Any suggestions? I have 35x15x15 super swamper tsl's. I don't think that would cause vibration that bad. It is also only at certain speeds. Usually worse around 40-50 mph. It actually only happens around that speed.
I would take the truck in and have all 4 tires balanced before suspecting a problem with your springs. Also check for bad u-joints.
You're thinking is good about getting rid of the extra rear block and going with a lift spring instead. As far as the ladder/traction bars, your factory radius arms provide that function already. I don't see a need for more locating bars on the front axle. Ford has also taken care of side to side movement with the trac bar. Doing drop brackets for the radius arms and trac bar is a good way to do the lift and keep your frontend angles near stock.
The thing with the radius arms is stress on the frame. I have heard that with a lift and adding drop brackets for the radius arms, there is still a lot of stress on the frame. I have heard of people even breaking the frame. It just seemed that the extended radius arms were the way to go. My drive shaft has just been rebuilt, so the u-joints are good. It really isn't a vibration, it is actually bouncing.
your thinking of ttb lifts, they r a different ballgame....they usually mess the frame up around the ibeam pivot brackets...you dont even have those cuz you have asolid front axle.
you really dont lose any strength with the radius arm drop brackets on your style suspension
