61' f-100 352 swap

Hello everyone, This is my first time here. I found my truck in the middle of a field in OK. It had a 292 w\ a borg-warner 4-speed. I bought a 352 and would like any advice on installing and setting up the engine. Also, if anyone knows where I could get an adapter kit for my bellhousing 2 tranny so that I don't have to use the 3- speed. I greatly appriciate the help.

You will need a front mount (under the timing cover) kit for the 352. I know this has been done several times before, you may wish to check in on the engine swap or FE forum.

Thumbs up

Hey Rusty, my '63 originally came with the 292/4spd combo you have. To do the swap you'll need an FT bellhousing ( has the ears on it for your rear motor mounts ), and depending on how you want to do it, you have a couple of choices for the front mount. #1- you can use the front timing cover/front mount from a 330FT ( has the small crank snout hole in cover like an FE, made of cast iron ) then it will mount like your 292, or #2- get a crossmember for this swap ( FE into early Ford p/u's ), around $80.00, and another $50.00 for the rubber motor mounts. Mine was originally done with the FT mounting system, worked great, allowed you to use the stock clutch linkage without any mods, and you can also use the big 9qt FT oil pan with this setup. Ideally, I would look for a F-600 or bigger ( which SHOULD be an FT series motor ) for the parts you need. Good luck, Al
