Gear Ratio Change

My 79 f150 has a 351M and 35 in tires. But. 3.50 gears. I hear ppl talking about changing gear ratios. Whats the easiest way to do this?

There is only one way to do this. You have to replace the ring and pinion in the differentials. If it is a 4X4, then it is twice as much money. You may need to get new carriers also.

but is it hard and time consuming to do? BTW on a holly 650 4bbl carb. Which screw is for gas and which is air?

The two screws on the sided of the metering block both control fuel. In for less, out for more. They should be adjusted close to the same.

It would be hard and time consuming for someone who has never done it before and doesn't have the special tools to do it. It's better to let the professionals do it for you.

With 35" tires you're probably looking at 4.10 to 4.56 ratio gears depending on your engine, transmission, and what you use the truck for. Look to be spending about $1200-$1500 to do both axles.
