Difficult Shifting F-250SD
Sometimes to shift into reverse, I first have to shift into 2nd, then goto directly to reverse. I've had other tranny's that were the same way, somehow the shift to 2nd, sync'd stuff up just right to allow an easy slide into R.
Same story when shifting to 1st, (sometimes easier if I shift to 2nd first).
When going up through the gears:
1->2: pretty notchy. hard to hit this gate right, but likely because there really wide gap in ratio from 1->2, and its way easy to overrev in 1st.
(I rarely use 1st anyway.. Only when I tow).
2->3: a little notchy, but its a truck tranny, not a sports car. (I normally start in 2nd)
3->4: smooth, every time
4->5: smooth, every time
