Axle Ratios

I own a 1997 Ford Expedition EB 5.4L with a 3.73 rear end. Ive been looking into buying a 2001 or 2002 Expedition EB but have found all have a 3.55 rear end. How will this affect my towing abilities? Im towing 7200 lbs. 30 foot travel trailer. Any advice would be appreciated.

John.

Use the drop down menu it will give you the option for which truck you are looking at whether it's 4x2 or 4x4.

Tow rating was near the bottom.

Am I right to assume that the H6 rear end is the 3,73?? Im having a hard time locating information that confirms that assumption. My main concern in moving up to a 2001 or 2002 from my current 1997 is that I will have less towing performance. Just looking for some comfort in knowing that with the new truck I wont have a problem towing a 7200 lb trailer. Thanks Again.

I'm not sure on the RPO code. Did you try to call your local Ford dealer and ask them?

From what I read on the link I provided the max trailer capacity is still 8,100 even with the 3.55 gear.
