Wich NP435?
Went to the local junkyard and there is 2 different 2Wd output shaft lengths, 4.25 and 5.5 approx. Wich works with the Advance Adapter?
Is it cheaper to go with a 6 cyl stock adapter?
I read somthing on this a while back but I can't seem to find it.

If you happen to have a factory 6 cylinder adaptor, then going with the adaptor plate kit is more cost effective. But, if you have to buy the 6 cyl adaptor and the plate, then you will almost spend the same amount in the end. IMO, I would go with one of the adaptors from a Bronco parts supplier such as Tom's. The AA adaptor is a quality unit, but the way that it is designed makes service and accessibility a hassle. I have found that the adaptors made using the stock adaptor (such as Tom's) are just easier to use. I'm not advertising their stuff, I've just done a lot of 4 speed conversions with their adaptors. I think that WH and Jeff's offer the same type.

I don't have any adapter. I sold every one I ever had and knew one day I would regret it.
Have you had any experience with the NP 540 5sp trans out of the 60s trucks? they have 2 different unsinkrode?? low gears. I believe it is possible to put one in place of the 435. Does any one know?
Another option is the Clark 5 speed. There are several different options you can go with ranging from super low gears to OD. The biggest problem with these transmissions is that they are truck (not pickup) transmissions and drive accordingly. Very loud in operation and hard shifting with a clutch by design. A friend of mine built one for his Jeep. Liked the gearing options. There was a company that was building adaptors for them. "Performance- something", I can't remember.
If you're not too low geared to be without an OD, the 435 is about the best there is, IMO. Still common to find parts for new and used. Drives pretty good for a truck transmission. Easy and cheap to swap.
