tire size of 265/75/r16 or 285/75/r16's?
I am buying new tires shortly and have 285's on it now. I think I might be able to get a little better milage (1-2 more mpg at most) and a little more pep in the takeoff.
What do you think?

Did you get your tire sizes backwards?
Available tires from the factory:
235/85 r16
265/75 r16
Both have the same outside diameter, and provide basically the same mpg and power.
You say you have 285/75 r16 on your truck now. If so, then in affect you have a slightly lower ground ratio, which sometimes can help MPG's, but generally makes the truck feel a little less powerful.
If you go back to the stock 265/75 r16, the truck will feel like it has more pep, but you won't see any mpg increase.
Thanks for the info. I think I might try the 265's and see what happens. It appears as ya'll say though. Not enough to make a difference.
What are you owners of a F250 SC 4x4 V-10's with the stock 265's getting for milage?

i woundn't try to base other guy's milage on just the size tire they've got. gearing, the amount of weight they carry around daily, the ups and downs of the elevations they drive on, and even their driving habits all have more to do with milage than the tire size.
