aux tank capacity

Was wondering if anyone could tell me what the capacity is of the aux fuel tank on a 72 f100 long bed. My fuel gauge only reads 3/4 when i fill it and near empty when i'm down 10 gallons, so I would like to know exactly how much further i have to go before i have to switch tanks. I use my aux tank because my gauge does not work for the main. There seems to be a wire missing from the switch and i can't find it hanging anywhere. If anyone has a electrical schematic for this truck, i'd greatly appreciate it. This is my first truck and i love it! Runs perfect, purrs in and out of gear. Only problem is after it sits for about 15 minutes, it cranks easy, but won't start till the second or third attempt. why? thanks for any help!
