4R100 full fluid flush help
I want to do a full ATF flush in my tranny. Configured as it is, I have about 18 qts in the system. Dropping the pan will release 3-4 qts and blowing air through the oil cooler will release another, say, 3. I pulled the rubber cap on the bottom of the bellhousing in hopes that there would be a drain plug but no joy.
Historically, on my old Explorer, I would detach one of the lines to the cooler, pour in a quart, start engine, drain a quart and so on until I had flushed two qts of straight Mercon and the full compliment of what I really wanted in there, Mobil 1 synth ATF.
Anyone done this yet? Easier way?
Hope to do it this weekend.
