New Problem...

1994 5.0 into a 1992 F-150 4x4 5spd (had 4.9L). We have the 5.0 engine in but when we fire it up it doesn't seem to be getting any fuel to the injecters... The fuel lines are good. We have a V8 computer in from a 1994 4x4 F-150 5spd. Not sure exactly what to do... any suggestions? Also, I have heard people talk of a knock sensor, what exactly is that? Thanks Mark

A little confused about what you mean. Maybe you can clarify. You said when you "fire it up". Does it start at all? I know we talked a little about this swap before on the clutch questions and such. How about an in-depth update of what's happening/what you've done, etc? Maybe then we can get down to the heart of the matter and get you going. As far as the knock sensor is concerned, it is a transducer (essentially a microphone) that senses spark knock (pre-ignition), so that the computer can retard the timing and prevent damage to the engine. As I stated before, my experience is with GM EFI, but they all work pretty much the same, and there are others on the forum with a lot of Ford knowledge. On a GM, you can run it without the knock sensor, but it's a good idea to have one anyway since they can usually pick up knock that may be inaudible to the human ear, and save your engine from premature failure.

Well, we fixed the clutch problem, we ended up using the 4.9L clutch and pressure plate on the 302 flywheel. We have everything hooked/bolted up (or just about, waiting on the accelerator bracket for throttle cables). Also we have a new computer for it, one that is compatable with a V8. Yes the truck starts and runs for a few seconds, but it will not stay running. We prime the throttle body with gas, but other then that no fuel is getting to the injectors. We used a V8 engine harness on the engine, but left the other harness' alone. I hope this gives you a better understanding, thanks Mark

Have you checked the fuel pressure?
