Okay, I just installed my FM 70 series cat back, but something is really wrong. I think I installed it wrong. I mounted it so the holes are aligned horizontally, not vertically like the stock muffler. It was a very tight fit and the muffler is rubbing on the heat shield. None of the hangers or clamps lined up quite right. Anyway I figured I'd just leave it like that and ask you guys for help before I screw it up any more. Has anyone installed this kit? Suggestions?
So what is the problem? If the flow is correct, add a hanger to pull it away from a heat sheild. After you have tightened the bolts it really sucks to seperate it with out cutting things. I have beat them off with a hammer, but I would hat to do that with a flowmaster. I would make sure that I was not rubbing anything and not worry about it.
I put mine on my truck 2 weeks ago. The Flowmaster goes on just like the stocker came off. Everything lined up perfect with no rubbing. I reused the rubber hangers that were on the factory unit. So in short turn the muffler Vertical like the stock unit and if will all line up.
Problem solved! I just got back from my shop. Mounted it vertically and everything lined up fine. I feel like an idiot. I should have realized that it would go on same as the stock muffler. Thanks everyone! One more question. I noticed an odor coming from the exhaust when I get out of the truck. Is this normal with a new exhaust system?
I am happy so far. This is my first Flowmaster and the quality of the muffler and tubing seems really good. The 70 series is a little quieter than I had expected but it still sounds good.

I felt the same way when I installed mine. But I hear about others complaining about cab resonance with 40 series and similar muffs. Other people say mine sounds good when I drive by and I've heard it when my wife or son drive off in it and it sounds good. Not loud but definitely not stock.
Honestly, the main reason I got the 70 was because it was designed for HD applications like towing and motorhomes. In my previous ride, F250/460, I blew the back end out of a 40 series while towing due to the extreme heat.
