Instrument bulb

I am trying to find an instrument bulb for the rear wiper control. I have tried all the parts stores and Wal-Mart, no luck. I tried a local Ford dealer. It seems that the bulb is discontinued. Now where am I supposed to find one of these?

Anyone got any bright ideas?

I'm not sure what type of bulb is used for that, but I just ordered some lights online. I know your Aeros are a different year than mine, but take a look here and see if they have what you're looking for.http://www.autolumination.com/

If the bulb is in the switch it self maybe you can get a whole different switch at bone yard.

Similar thing just happened to me. The light bulb in my windshield wiper control has gone out, and I have no idea where to get a replacement. I guess I'll just have to take a trip to a junkyard sometime and pull some out. Seems like the only way. I wish Ford hadn't used such rare bulbs for something so vital!

Hey Tom, what year is the Aerostar you're trying to replace this bulb? If it has the older panels, like my '89, then what I'd suggest is still the junkyard, just pull a bulb from those. I'm actually going to run an experiment and see if the rear wiper switch will run a "37" bulb. If it does, that means it will take 74's like on the site I gave to you. That might help in the future if your bulbs go out, just go to a junkyard and pull some of the plastic plugs. Of course, these bulbs rarely go out, but still, good to think ahead...

I took a trip to my pick-a-part today, they actually let me have the bulb for free, didn't need the switch. I suppose they don't care if it's really small stuff like screws and little bulbs.

It sound like the junk yard is my best option. Mine is a 94. It uses an odd bulb. It's small and sets in a plastic base.

I just didn't want to pay for a whole switch when I only needed the bulb. Maybe it's not that much. Thanks.

I think that bulb is the same type that sits inside the rear of the radio. Only Ford dealers sell that bulb.

I changed the radio bulb in my old 91 Aerostar and in the radio from an old 80's Escort. Those were different than this one. It was a standard instrument bulb that I got from Autozone. This one I've tried just about everywhere in town.

If it's a tiny green bulb with wires holding it onto a piece of plastic, then I know what you're talking about. I'd have no clue where to get a bulb like that. And again, I wish Ford didn't use such a dumb design on that! They should've figured that these bulbs would go bad sooner or later.

Oh well, as I said, junkyard. They probably won't charge you just for pulling out the little bulb. Good luck finding an Aerostar with the "modern" dashboard. Just about all the Aerostars I found yesterday were like mine, with the older dash and gauges.

That is the bulb. Round plastic base. Bulb covered with green plastic.

Well it's off to the junk yard for me too.
