Help anyone????

I have a 1991 F-150 with the 4.9. I was having hesitation/stalling problems. So I decided to do a tune up. I replaced the fuel filter, plugs, wires and on and on. When I replaced the ditributor cap I had some problems with the 2 screws, long story short the screws snapped off. In order to drill out the holes I had to remove the distributor completly. After that process while putting everything back together I get everything back the way it was, so I thought. Well now it time to try starting her. She fired right up and then stalled almost instantly. So tried her a second time. This time the battery sparked and arced. Now Im stuck with a dead battery and no clue where to start. Can anyone help?

I'll go part way out on this limb. If that first time it started, then stalled immediately - the timing may have been a little fast, causing the engine to pop backward. If the starter had not disengaged yet, its pinion gear may be jammed in the flywheel, preventing either from turning. The starter is about the same as a direct short across the battery, which would overheat quickly, and this may have caused some sparks at a connection that was loose or weak.

I'd try to turn it over by hand to see if that's the case or not. Good luck.
