I just read an article in the newspaper about another 15yr ol kid, died from Huffing, man I wish our gov would put out a nationwide ad campain that would show these kids just how suicidal this is!For those who dont know what huffing is,It is putting spray paint, spray deodorant, etc,in a plastic bag, then covering your face with the bag, inhaling this junk!!!And I mean A detailed ad.
I mean,I have painted a few cars and boats in my garage, and anybody who has done this knows, that if you forget to wear your resperator,It is a pain in the nose trying to get all the paint out.
And that is just overspray in the air! These kids are sticking their faces right in it!The ad should show them graphic details of the inside of someones nose and lungs from someone who has died from it.I`m not positive, but from trying to get that junk out of my nose after painting something,I gotta believe it aint no pretty site!
Sorry about the ranting, but man, this has got to be the most stupid way to try and get a buzz, kind of like those dumbaxles
years ago that would drink anti-freeze!Just my .02
We've had huff a lot of things
Gas, Contact Cement, etc
I won't list them all as i dont want anybody getting any ideas
But a kid died from that back when I was in school
Ive seen ppl almost OD from huffing gas. My cousin used to do it and now just the other week he got busted for meth. Two of the things in his meth was amonia and muric acid. I dont see why they dont ever put him behind bars for that crap.
Nope, I haven't done any drugs..
only gas I inhale is bodily and that's not by choice
and I smell race gas/alcohol on sundays at the race track, but that smells everywhere up there.
there was an ad campaign on huffing a while back. Not the grisley details of autopsy- which would probably be better- but a shot of a kid in a coma, being tended to by his parents. "Not everyone dies from huffing" or something like that. I know crap like that really mushes up your brain, though.
they have treid to do some things like age restrict spray paint have to be atleast 18 now. but that dont stop ya from buying somthing else and iam quite sure theses kids dont go and buy it but take it from the house. i think what really needs to be done is for kids to be taught some work ethics so they wouldnt have time to vandilize huff do drugs etc etc. by the way iam only 20yrs old and i say this since 90% of the kids in my high school were a bunch of lazy asses and the other 10% were farm kids that new how to work. and we for one did no huffing drugs or vandilizing.
Huffing............yea its bad. Population control is the job of the parents.
Instead of the countries money going to raise some idiots kids, how bout we spend some off the money teaching idiots to be better parents too.
I do remember some ad campaigns regarding huffing and the dangers of it. It spoke of how basically through huffing you are depriving your brain of much needed oxygen. Huffing is a cheap high, you can go to a dollar store and buy any number of aerosol products for a buck. You cannot buy any other high for that cheap. And it's not just aerosols, also things like markers, especially the permanent kinds like Sharpies or Marks-A-Lot. It is worth noting to parents to keep any eye on the chemicals you use in your garage or shop, and keep them out of reach of your kids. So many things we use working on cars are aerosol. Pay attention to your kid and how they act. Also note, metallic spray paints are the most potent.
so its easy to call everyone idiots peppy and just because there are a few bad kids out there doesn't mean that there all bad and as far as the parents go ; well let's just say you can lead a horse to water but you cant make them drink. In other words you can raise a child with all the right methods in the world and that child can still make all the wrong decisions which stems from outside negative attitudes and backward thinking directed toward the kids .
Yea Grizz, your right.
But it seems to me that no one tries anymore. So many parents just turn on the TV and expect the kids to raise themselves. Form the TV kids go to the neighbors house, then to the schools and streets. I think too many parents leave other people to raise their children, especially leaving them open to peer pressure. I feel my parents did a good job raising me. And I too veered off the path and got in trouble often. Coulda been if I werent so lucky back then I guess. The difference is I knew when something was too far out of line, and or dangerous.
I guess my point is preperation and education. If a parent covers all those bases, and there is still problems, it happens, you tried, but so many parents just dont try.
But yes, I agree with what your saying.
OK I did not mean to imply that anyone was an idiot (except maybe anybody who would stick a plastic bag on his face, the fact that in the article the kids dad stated that he had no idea that his son was doing this(He didnt even know what huffing was)So again I say We need an ad campain that shows all the morbid details of what this junk does. And I am hoping that this post is a wakeup call for any parent who has never talked to their kids about Huffing.
