Removable top
Just bought my second Bronco(90 w/351), last one was an '84.
Loved these trucks ever since H.S.
May seem like a stupid question, but have any of you ever installed a ladder rack on the fiberglass top?
Over the cab, the guy used a bike/canoe style rack that clamped into the rain gutters. For the fiberglass top, he used "cleats" for the other half of the bike/canoe rack. They were about 6-8" long, and he drilled through the roof and used a mounting plate on the underside.
The good:
1) He was able to carry all of his ladders do his job.
2) There was so much goop on the rear cleats that it never leaked.
The bad:
1) He was able to carry all of his ladders do his job. These things weighed so much that the cab-roof actually collapsed under footprint of the rack. When I went to look at the truck, it was the strangest thing - there were two giant dents on top of the roof.
Luckily, I was buying it for parts and didn't care about the body.
