The Tennessee Hillbilly has some good ideas - I like the idea about the longer powertrain coverage as well.
I think its funny some of you said you use your truck for work yet you tear all the basic stuff of and trick it out with custom stuff. I am the same way.
Someone needs to compile this list and send it certified mail to the President and CEO Bill Ford along with every product developer of the Super Duty. Tell them it came from Ford-Trucks.com - I bet we would get a response and some action.
I believe a two speed rearend. A flip up hood for easy servicing of the engines. A new revolutionary engine that gets 35MPG with plenty of power. Just dreaming on that one. Ill bet the engineers of the superduty have revolutionary ideas that will see in the superduties the next several years. I predict that will see big things in these trucks that will keep ford on top.
The dodge 7 year 70000 mile warranty. What about after that. Boy that is scary. No wonder there are more transmission repair shops springing up all over the area. Dodge has been real good to them Haven't they. This warranty thing doesn't turm me on a bit. What if i am stranded in the middle of nowhere does that cover it too. Give me a break. Ford doesnt need that kid of warranty to gain my business I know better.
These have already been brought up, but considering that many SD owners upgrade their trucks anyway, why not offer a "performance package" that includes the AIS, gauges (pyro, boost, tranny), 4" exhaust, and larger tire options?
The warranty increase would make them evn more competitive.
The dash, well its a truck, not a car. Believe or not, I actually prefer the current SD dash over the new F150 dash. I feel like I'm driving a car (a nice car though). To each his own. just my .02
150Ford is right. I have had a couple friends that had real problems having thier Dodge warranties respected. Rather than a longer warranty I like a truck that needs no warranty.
I'd like to see the 460 come back modernized, the v10 is nice but man I miss my 460's. I dont understand why big block gassers are so taboo all of a sudden.
TNHillbilly, your right about the 6.0 having the AIS filter. But the other items just make sense and would make better equipped trucks, and more money for Ford of course.
Seriously, I would like the radio controls on the wheel for safety and convenience. Pitch that noisy, creaky cup holder - I'm always afraid my super Big Gulp Coke is about to launch in 0.7g turns. A 300hp / 600ft. lb. diesel that is as reliable as the 7.3 on chips and exhaust. Projector/HID lighting stock. Dual tanks with 60+ gal capacity option.
Finally... a true D60/D70 front axle in a 1-ton truck for crissakes!
Gauges would be a good option, stereo upgrade with an aftermarket company (IE Kenwood, Sony, etc.), wider more supportive seats would be welcomed as well.
