Has anyone read the poll on the Nascar website regarding Mark Martins fine by Nascar for being 1/8" too low after winning the race.Look at the the last selection in the poll and see if you don't get as mad as I did, I e-mailed them and let them know exactly what I think of that particular statement!!!!Or am I too one sided!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-May-02 AT 09:19 AM (EST)]Actualy the whole thing annoys me they did that to little E also and if they had waited a 1/2 hour or more for the car to cool down everything would have been at the proper height.I checked nascar.com this morning and a new poll is posted.I am getting fed up at them anyway due to the fact that now you have to pay to see video clips or racecast:-X23
Real player is the pitts
I missed it......what did the mental giants at Nascar do this time? In particular what was the statement that got you riled up? Being a long time Mark Martin fan anyway, I'm sure it would psssss me off too.
The rule is that the car must meet the height requirment after the end of the race. Not a 1/2 hour or an hour later.
I understand the rule, but I do not agree with it for a number of reasons. However, it is their rule and so they must abide by it. The fact that it nailed Mark's car is just the nature of the beast.
Maybe, just maybe, Mark can nail the Championship this year. I so pray.
The last selection in the pole answers went something like this as well as I can remember. Should more be done to penalize cheaters like Martins team when they get caught like they did Monday? Well as far as I am concerned Nascar owes the Rousch teams and every other team that shows up to race, including Busch teams a strong apology for insinuating that cheating is involved in a 1/8" height penalty fine at the end of a race.Had they taken time to check the rest of the feild of cars after the race no doubt they would hav found many others under the height restriction!!!!!!!! . I say fine them if they are out of the required restrictions but don't label them cheaters, that really ticks me off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a &^%$#()*& stupid thing to say, especially about one of the premiere teams on the Winston Cup circuit. I'm not saying any Roush team won't push the rule to the limit, all good teams do. But labelling these teams "cheaters" is down right idiotic. I'm no engineer and only a shade tree mechanic at best, but losing 1/8th of an inch in height over the course of a 600 mile race seems within the realm of possibility, especially considering how hard they hit turns and bottom out. I would hope that the people who run Nascar would consider the fact that without the teams and drivers and their fans, Nascar doesn't exist. Some apologies are in order.
