I recently purchased a new 2004 F-350 diesel. I have asked the dealer if they can turn off the horn beep when you lock the door and set the alarm. He gave me that deer in the headlights look and said he would get back to me (With Ford Dealers that’s the kiss of death). I have had it done to my Volkswagens and that was just as simple as hooking it up to the dealers computer and shutting it off. Has anyone had the experience with turning off the beep with a Ford truck? I don’t want to turn off the alarm just the annoying beep.
No, but go slap your dealer around for abit and make him do it. It annoys me how you spend your big money and then they still try to pump you for more with offers and deals. I don't see why they couldn't do that for you. But maybe he was a new guy and couldn't answer your question. -william
I have to think you right. It just a matter of getting the dealer to expend the energy. Anyone have any experience doing this themselves, are the software and hookups available to the owner?
If you dont want it to honk when you arm it, after getting out and closing the last door, hit the unlock button first and then the lock button. I use this when I come home late at night so as not to annoy my sleeping neighbors.
If you don't want it to honk when you disarm it, hit the lock button first and then the unlock button. I use this in the morning for the same reasons above.
Oh yeah,
Mine does have an alarm, not just the keyless entry. The dealer added an extra $700 to the negotiated price for it and said the alarm could not be taken off the truck.
I believe it is the silencer alarm, it supposedly has an ignition kill and I know it goes off if I slam the tailgate when it is armed.
Read the owners manual. I know the Crown Vics and Grand Marquis are re programed through the key and key pad. The instructions were very thorough, and I changed it on the first try.

on my last two trucks from ford('95 bronco,2001sd) they had the security package on them and the horn would only beep if you pushed the lock button a second time(as per the manuals it said if you want to confirm the system is set you could push the button a second time and the horn will sound, however the doors will lock and the system well by set with one push of the button).they may have changed them now, but i think that is how they used to be
This is the first time I've had a security package in any of my pickups. So while I'm not a nubie to the F line (this will be my 4th starting with my 1980 F-100, 1986 F-150, then 1993 F150, which I finaly retired when the trans went at 217K miles.) I only have my cars to compare with and they don't give you the option.
