Starting situation
If it sits during the day or over night (8+ hours)...no problem starting.
But if driven, then it sits for an hour or two, it seems to crank for a long time before it finally starts up. It hasn't failed to start yet, but I don't want to wait till I'm stuck somewhere before fixing the problem.
Once it starts, I can shut if off and it will start right up again. It drives fine with no hesitations or misses.
The only thing thats been different on the truck in the last week is that the gas level was almost on "E" last weekend before refilling, and I switched from a regular gas cap to a locking gas cap.
I live in Wisconsin where the temps lately have been in the 30's. Yet, I've gone all winter and not noticed any problems till now.
Any info you can share would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Have you pulled the codes? How about tuneup stuff like plugs, cap & rotor, air filter, etc.
The situation repeated itself again twice yesterday with the same symptoms of starting fine if it sits over night or during the day at work. But if it sits about 2 hours, it takes a while cranking it to get it to start.
So last night I put in fuel injector/carb cleaner along with a full tank of gas. I'm wondering if maybe theres moisture in the line, or some dirt might have been sucked up when driven near empty last week. I'll see what result that gives.
The next step after that is to switch back the gas cap and see if that makes a difference.
Finally, if its still acting funny, I'll pull the codes.
Thanks.
