Headliner Question..

Question for you all--would the headliner from a '79 Lariat fit into my '69 F-100? Aren't the cabs and dimensions between the two relatively the same? Thanks!

I don't know if they are the same size, but I'm betting it works. I intend on doing my own....got a piece of that 1/8 thick board stuff with the holes in it from an upholstery shop that also does headliners. Just bought the board though and am planning on getting some velvety material from Wal-Mart and covering it myself. Just food for thought.

Kentucky? I spent 6 and half years stationed at Ft. Campbell, Ky. 1989-1992 and 1995-1997. Nice area, love Land Between the Lakes!

In fact, in 1990, I bought an awesome 1969 Ranger Custom with 390, Short bed. The interior was perfect. Was a Pearl white paint that was absolutely beautiful. That truck was awesome. I regret ever trading in at Little River Ford in Hopkinsville, Ky. I think of that truck almost daily. It was truly a nice ride.

The 73 -79 headliners are smaller will not work on the 67-72 it sure would be nice if they did .

Yeah- Kentucky is pretty nice place to live--anytime we have family come to visit they always so surprised with how pretty it is out here---guess many folks think of those stereotypes where we're all barefoot brewin' up moonshine in the backyard--we live about 45 miles South of Lexington--were you in the 101st Airborne? I ride dirtbikes out at Land Between the Lakes during the summer--definitely a fun place!

xlt70: Thanks for the info--that's surprising that the headliner is actually smaller from 73-79...

hve you considered one of the headliner replacements with a slot to mount a stereo and speakers they look good and solve another big headache of trying to get a good source of tunes without destroying your dash.

Yes, 101st MP Company. Loved it there. Good place to be Army wise.

A few of the guys around here have installed them and raved at how good they work. If I drove my '68 more than 100-200 miles per year, I'd be all over one of those.

You may want to go this route. I installed a universal black vinyl headliner in my 69; purchased from Whitney for under $100 and simple to install. I have the chrome h/liner trim mldgs on my Ranger so I removed them and then the old board material. The kit will come with (2) track rails that you pop rivet at each end to give support and then you slide the rods through the sewn support loops in the headliner fabric and snap them into place and starting at one end glue the h/liner to the roof working around the entire area pulling as you go to remove wrinkles; install mldgs and trim excess material. It's basically a car headliner in a truck and looks great.
