The only difference that I am aware of is that they made both a reverse and standard rotation. Reverse is preferable, as this places the pinion at the top of the axle instead of the bottom for ground clearance and a better driveline angle on lifted trucks. Either one should work, you just might have to alter the length of your driveshaft if you are switching to a different rotation axle.

The only differences are reverse cut pinions and standard cut pinions. They usually put the reverse cut ones in them and were preferred cause they have the pinion torwards the top of the differental giving you more clearence.
